“Sweating”, “few flowers”, “not satisfied” are the feelings of many young people when visiting the newly popular purple multi-colored flower street near the JW Marriott hotel (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi).

Recently, the multi-colored flower wall near the Mễ Trì overpass (on Đỗ Đức Dục street, next to the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi) has become famous on social media. This location attracts a large number of young people to check in, especially on weekends, thanks to the blooming flower vines that display beautiful purple colors. The flowers began to bloom at the beginning of March, but previously only a few local residents came to take pictures.

At 4 PM on March 31, Bảo Ngọc and Minh Sáng (24 years old, residing in Đống Đa district, Hanoi) traveled over 10 km to take photos with the flower vines. Sharing with Tri Thức – Znews, the two young people said the location did not meet their expectations. After an hour, they finally got a “decent” photo. “At the beginning of the week, I saw on social media that the location had vibrant flowers, so I was very excited to go take pictures. By the weekend, I finally had free time, but when I arrived, I found there were too few flowers and too many people, making it difficult to get good shots without people in the background,” Bảo Ngọc said.

Similarly, Tiểu Phương (in a pink shirt, 20 years old) also felt disappointed, especially due to the hot weather in Hanoi despite it being late afternoon. “I saw pictures posted online with lots of flowers. Before coming here, my friends and I researched various poses to take photos. But probably due to the large crowd and the weather getting warmer, there were only a few areas with flowers at the upper level; I didn't get many satisfactory pictures,” she noted.

To get a satisfying photo, she even brought a chair from home to ensure a picture with many flowers. According to Phương, to take pictures in areas with blooming flowers, one has to wait 10-15 minutes. That was also why she invited friends to go along with her. “While waiting to enter the beautiful spots to take photos, I took the opportunity to photograph other areas and then returned to avoid queuing. We invited each other to go together for fun, and also to support one another with poses and to save spots for shooting,” Phương expressed.
Most people come to this street out of curiosity, having learned about the area through social media platforms. Young women often prioritize bright and cheerful outfits, bringing along many accessories such as hair clips, bags, and headscarves… The weather on March 31 was quite hot; however, many young people still accepted to take pictures for 1-2 hours to get a satisfactory photo.

“I was sweating a lot. Today I came to take pictures for a friend’s birthday. My friend wanted to take photos at this colorful flower street because it looks very beautiful online. In reality, it is somewhat similar to what’s online, but the flowers aren’t as vibrant,” Khôi (29 years old, residing in Đan Phượng, Hanoi) shared.

In addition to taking pictures for his friend, Khôi also took the opportunity to socialize and take pictures with many other young women at this location. Not only him, but many photography enthusiasts also took this chance to come here for some shots. Khôi believes that if there was more spacious space, it would create more creative angles to shoot. “It’s a bit crowded, but I was still able to get some satisfying pictures,” he said.

Tùng Linh (30 years old, residing in Tây Hồ, Hanoi) stated, “I have just started learning photography for a few months, and I saw this street appearing on social media, so I came to socialize and take pictures with everyone. However, the photos didn't turn out very well because the flowers weren’t as beautiful as I expected. If I had known earlier, I probably wouldn’t have come here,” he expressed.

Unlike most young people who come here, Hạnh Nguyễn (21 years old, residing in Mai Dịch ward, Hanoi) chose to wear a black crop top and took photos in a section separated from the colorful flower area. “I chose to shoot here because I wanted to have a stylish photo. The outside area is more fitting for those who prefer a gentle, poetic style. Also, this area requires less ‘competition’,” she shared.

According to observations from Tri Thức – Znews, every 5-10 minutes, someone stops their vehicle to come in and take photos with the flower vines. It’s not just in the morning; the afternoons and evenings are even busier, with rows of motorbikes parked along the street.

This colorful flower vine is perennial and blooms all year round. The multi-colored flower plant belongs to the shrub group, with small stems, often growing in dense bushes. Previously, very few people came here to take pictures, but due to its popularity on social media, many young people flocked to it.
