To attract international tourists, China has begun a policy to reduce visa fees by 25% for certain countries, including Vietnam, starting tomorrow.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese embassies on Friday, December 8, China will cut visa fees by 25% for travelers from countries including Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, and Mexico from tomorrow, December 11, until December 31, 2024. This is the latest measure among a series of actions that China has recently undertaken to increase the number of international tourists and foreign businessmen in order to help the world's second-largest economy recover more quickly after the pandemic, according to Reuters.

The visa application fee for Vietnamese citizens is divided into several categories, including single-entry for 60 USD, double-entry for 90 USD… Earlier, in late November, China announced a new policy temporarily exempting visa requirements for citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia. Specifically, from December 1 to November 30 of the following year, citizens of the aforementioned countries traveling to China for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, or transiting, if not exceeding 15 days, will not need a visa, according to South China Morning Post.
China has implemented many measures in recent months - including the restoration of international flight routes - to revive the tourism industry after three years of imposing strict restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Also in November, China expanded its visa-free transit policy to citizens of Norway, bringing the total number of countries in this category to 54. China has also restored the 15-day visa exemption policy for citizens of Singapore and Brunei.
