Recently, a spot dubbed the “Lenin Wall” on Au Trieu Street (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) has attracted many young people for check-ins and photos.

According to Lao Động, this graffiti wall has been around for a long time, but recently, many young people have flocked to take photos. At first glance, the wall appears quite ordinary like other graffiti walls in Hanoi. The wall is associated with a clothing brand that follows the skater style.
This location began to create a check-in trend on social media at the end of October when a rap song was widely shared. The song includes the line “Waking up early, passing Lenin […] drinking filter coffee,” which has become a sensation among the youth.

Many young people, even from tens of kilometers away, still travel here to keep up with the trend. On November 7, despite it not being a weekend, many young people were waiting to check in at the wall.
Le Thu Trang (22 years old, Cau Giay) shared that she had to wake up early to take photos at this wall. Last weekend, Trang and a friend came here hoping to have a beautiful photo to post on social media. However, she had to give up the plan and go home because she had to wait in line for quite a long time.
Hai Minh (18 years old) from the outskirts of Hanoi went with a group of friends to take photos during the week but still had to wait for their turn: “We came here but it was too crowded, so we went elsewhere to hang out, and returned closer to noon to take photos when it was less crowded,” Minh said.
Nevertheless, they are still determined to get “virtual life” photos “by any means”: “I like hip hop style and love the street art of this wall. Perhaps it’s because it suits the fall atmosphere that many young people come here to take photos, making it even more popular,” Minh shared about why many people come here to take pictures.

Nearby coffee shops and services have suddenly become busy because young people can leave their vehicles or buy drinks as props for their photos.
Some people taking photos park their vehicles on the road, making it difficult for traffic to pass, as the street has limited space. A resident living near Au Trieu Street said that a few days ago, authorities had to frequently check and be present to maintain order and security.
Residents are concerned that if young people stand taking photos right by the road during peak hours, traffic will become chaotic and congested. Additionally, some young people using the services of nearby shops bring tables and chairs right in front of the wall to sit and take photos, affecting the common space as well.
Currently, this check-in trend still causes controversy on social media. Alongside open opinions towards new trends among young people, many others find it hard to understand.
Some people point out that the lyrics from the rap song that sparked this trend do not mention the wall on Au Trieu Street but refer to Lenin Park on Dien Bien Phu Street—a well-known gathering spot for skateboarders.
