Currently, the Mekong Delta is one of the 7 characteristic tourism regions across the country. This area has great potential for tourism development due to its natural advantages in landscape, living environment... along with various festivals and unique cultural traits.
Recently, 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have intensified their investment in tourism in multiple aspects. The number of domestic and international tourists has increased. Alongside traditional tours, localities and businesses are developing high-end tourism products to increase customer spending and stimulate the economy of this area.

Regarding the development of high-end tourism products, Mr. Nguyễn Minh Tuấn – Director of the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism of Can Tho City stated that over the past time, the locality has made planning and called for investors. In addition, many large buildings and hotels are expected to be inaugurated by the end of this year and early next year, featuring high-end, 4-5 star products.
"Currently, tourists come to the Mekong Delta frequently, but their spending is low. There are high-end products for customers to spend more, while also developing tourism here," Mr. Minh Tuấn commented.
As one of the pioneering enterprises investing in the Mekong Delta, the Thiên Minh Group (TMG) offers many high-quality products and experiences for the high-end customer segment. Currently, this group owns many top high-end tourism assets in the Mekong Delta, such as resorts, hotels, and cruises in Can Tho and An Giang. Each year, the group welcomes about 60,000 international guests. The number of Vietnamese tourists coming to experience is gradually increasing. Notably, Victoria Nui Sam Hotel has about 60% Vietnamese guests from many provinces across the country seeking a resort that features both an ecosystem and local culture, along with quality services.
This enterprise leverages the destination's advantages so that tourists can relax while conveniently exploring and experiencing many places in the West, such as the floating fish farming village at the confluence of Chau Doc River, the Cham village in Chau Giang (An Giang province), and the Con Son tourism area (Can Tho City).

Meanwhile, in An Giang - a region famous for its spiritual tourism, welcoming 6 - 9 million tourists each year. According to Mr. Lê Trung Hiếu - Director of the An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center, visitors to An Giang mostly choose spiritual tourism and return home, resulting in low consumption and accommodation rates.
An Giang is also focused on attracting many investors and large corporations to develop high-end tourism products. Many units have come to survey and plan, but some projects have been temporarily paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With efforts to plan Chau Doc City as a festival city and tourism planning for An Giang province, there is hope that the locality will have more tourism products to attract guests to An Giang specifically and the Mekong Delta region in general.
