Wild sunflowers, also known as wild daisies, mountain daisies, or wild sunflowers, are a fast-growing plant that usually flowers in late autumn to early winter. Each flower typically has 13 bright yellow petals, measuring about 8 - 10 cm in diameter, surrounding a round, plump center. The wild sunflower season lasts about a month and is most beautiful in the two weeks following blooming.
At the end of the year in Hà Giang, it is the time when buckwheat flowers, the signature flower of the rocky highlands, bloom beautifully. From around October to the end of November each year, in Phong Quang Commune, Vị Xuyên District, about 8 km from the center of Hà Giang City, wild sunflowers are also showcasing their brilliant yellow color.

Wild sunflowers at Ba Vì National Park usually bloom around October to November each year. From the park gate to an elevation of 1,100 m (the base area of the Thượng Temple), wild sunflowers cover both sides of the road in vibrant yellow. The area with the highest concentration is at an altitude of 400 m, with a wildflower forest covering up to 10 hectares. In other areas, patches of flowers grow scattered.
Since 2015, recognizing the affection for this flower, Ba Vì National Park has planted more wild sunflowers to develop them as a tourism product, according to the Ba Vì National Park website.
