"Huế by light - The live show" is the result of more than a year of work by the production team to project light onto the architectural surface of the Ngọ Môn gate - the Imperial City of Huế. The program is built around the theme "Four seasons," combining Art Nouveau with traditional Vietnamese lacquer art, minimalism with dragons and phoenixes, or Art Deco with symbolic plants in Vietnamese culture.
The French Ambassador to Vietnam, Olivier Brochet, stated that the event is a testament to "the culture of sharing," reflecting the close relationship between Vietnam and France. The city of Lyon in France regularly hosts similar events combining sound and light performances, transforming architectural structures into a vibrant stage, attracting thousands of viewers.
"I hope that this technique will be regularly presented in Huế in the future," Mr. Olivier Brochet said.
Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Bình, Vice Chairman of Thừa Thiên Huế, mentioned that "Huế by light - The live show" will not sell tickets, and the stage will interact with the public. The organizers expect about 10,000 people to attend in the Ngọ Môn area.
According to Mr. Bình, preserving and enhancing the value of architectural heritage has always been a significant concern in Vietnam, especially in the ancient capital of Huế. Reviving local tourism by honoring architectural heritage is also one of the top priorities for the locality.

The light projection (3D mapping) was previously showcased on the Ngũ Phụng floor, Ngọ Môn during the opening ceremony of the Huế Festival 2022. However, Mr. Bình noted that the "Huế by light - The live show" will be "more massive, more vibrant, and more prominent."
