The prolonged heavy rain has caused many roads in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue to be flooded, halting tourism activities.
The continuous heavy rain has caused many main roads in the center of Hue City, such as Ben Nghe, Dong Da, Nguyen Hue, Hung Vuong… to be flooded over half a meter. Linh Dan, a tourist from Thanh Hoa, shared that when she arrived in Hue in the afternoon of November 14, the weather was quite nice. However, after dinner, it started to rain heavily. The relentless downpour led to flooding in many places on the streets. By November 15, most shops had closed, and taxi or ride-hailing services refused to accept passengers. As a result, Linh Dan and many other tourists felt "stuck" in their lodgings without being able to go anywhere.

"Due to the heavy rain, only high-clearance vehicles could run on the roads, and taxi fares have increased. Shops and tourist attractions are closed, and delivery services aren't accepting orders, making it impossible for me to order food. The hotel also didn't provide any dining services, so my friends and I could only eat instant noodles or fast food purchased at a few nearby grocery shops. These shops were quickly running out of supplies due to the demand from stranded tourists like me," Linh Dan recounted.
As travel is currently impossible, Linh Dan plans to take a passenger bus back to Thanh Hoa. Fortunately, the bus fare remained unchanged at about 350,000 VND per trip, and the female tourist hopes to catch the earliest bus possible. Nico Tempesta, an Italian tourist, stated that he couldn’t visit any places in Hue due to the heavy rain. "We are stuck here. It might flood even more seriously tomorrow. I hope we can leave soon," Nico shared on the evening of November 15.

Regarding the flooding situation affecting tourists in Hue, a local tourism expert informed: "The tourism situation is currently frozen." However, this person also added that most hotels and homestays in Hue have experience and handle customer assistance very well under storm and flood conditions. Therefore, tourists should not be too worried when planning to travel to Hue during the rainy season.

Previously, to proactively respond to the heavy rains and floods, on November 5, the Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism sent a document to the Provincial Tourism Association and tourism businesses requiring them to coordinate in implementing flood and storm prevention measures and to organize a 24/7 duty roster to timely respond to adverse developments that may occur during floods and storms.
At the same time, regularly monitor information regarding rain, storm, and flood situations from the provincial disaster prevention and rescue command to proactively take precautions.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of November 15 to the night of November 16, the area from Quang Tri to Thua Thien Hue will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, totaling from 200 to 300mm, with some places exceeding 500mm.
