According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, cold air is currently affecting most of the Northeast, some areas in the North Central region, and the Northwest. During this cold wave, the lowest temperatures in the Northern and North Central regions typically range from 19-22 degrees Celsius, while in the mountainous areas of the North, temperatures are generally between 16-19 degrees Celsius, with some high mountainous areas dropping below 14 degrees Celsius.
At sea, in the Gulf of Bắc Bộ, there are strong Northeast winds at level 6, with gusts of levels 8-9, and rough seas with wave heights of 2-3 meters. In the Northern region of the North East Sea, Northeast winds are blowing strongly at level 6, occasionally reaching level 7, with gusts at level 9, resulting in strong rough seas with wave heights of 2-4 meters.
Last night, October 20, the tropical depression (weakened from storm number 5) diminished into a low-pressure area over land in the Northwest of Hainan Island (China). At the Bạch Long Vĩ station, strong Northeast winds at level 6 have been recorded, with gusts reaching levels 8-9.
During the day and night on October 21, the Northern Gulf of Bắc Bộ and the coastal areas from Quảng Trị to Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định to Cà Mau, Cà Mau to Kiên Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, and the western seas of the North East Sea (including the waters around the Paracel Islands) will experience scattered rain and thunderstorms. There is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of winds at levels 7-8 during thunderstorms.
Warnings for the day and night of October 22 indicate that the Gulf of Bắc Bộ and coastal areas from Quảng Trị to Quảng Ngãi will have strong Northeast winds at level 5, sometimes level 6, with gusts at levels 7-8, leading to rough seas and wave heights of 1.5-3 meters; the Northern region of the North East Sea will experience strong Northeast winds at level 6, sometimes level 7, with gusts at level 9, resulting in very rough seas with wave heights of 2-4 meters.
All vessels and other activities in these sea areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves.
