What do Vietnamese customers say when eating phở priced at 265,000 VND at Chipu's restaurant in China?

Having tried many pho restaurants in Shanghai, Hanh Thu has yet to find one that truly satisfies her as the flavors do not match the standard Vietnamese pho.

Nguyễn Hạnh Thư first set foot in Shanghai in 2016 and has been attached to this city ever since.
After nearly a decade living abroad, sometimes the Vietnamese girl longs to find a restaurant that cooks with authentic Vietnamese flavors. Since pho is one of her favorite dishes, Thu has tried countless places in Shanghai to experience it.

"If roughly counted, there are over 30 pho brands in Shanghai with nearly 100 restaurants. I've tried many and noticed that the distinctive features of pho here don't emphasize the aroma of cinnamon and star anise like in Vietnam. The bowls of pho also don't have brisket, flank, or tendon for customers to choose from; they're often only served with rare, well-done, and beef balls.
Perhaps the flavor has been modified to suit local tastes. Therefore, most Vietnamese coming to eat pho in China will not accurately sense the authentic Vietnamese pho flavor," Thu commented.

Recently, upon learning that Chipu's pho restaurant had just opened, the Vietnamese girl was very excited and immediately went there to try it.
The restaurant is located on Yan Ping Road in Jing'an District. After 3 weeks of trial operation, the restaurant is now officially open. Situated on a not too bustling street, tourists can easily find it. Once inside, there is just a row of tables that easily reminds diners of Japanese noodle shops with a little more than a dozen seats.
Due to the small size of the restaurant, there isn't much space for designing and decorating old Hanoi street photos. The sign of the restaurant does not feature the words "Vietnamese pho" like many other restaurants in Shanghai.

The moment Thu came to dine was on a weekend. At that time, the restaurant was nearly full. With its location on a not too crowded street, the Vietnamese customer thought that was quite good.
It is known that the restaurant is running a combo for 79 yuan (265,000 VND) combining several products together, including: One bowl of pho, one poached egg, one dough stick, along with a lotus tea or coffee.
"Among the pho restaurants I've eaten at in Shanghai, I found that only this restaurant includes a poached egg and dough stick. The beef also has a difference. Besides well-done and rare beef, the bowl of pho does not have beef balls; instead, there is a piece of braised beef.
The seasonings at the restaurant include garlic vinegar, chili sauce, and fresh chili, instead of fresh lime, bean sprouts, and Thai basil like some other restaurants," the girl from Hanoi described.

Thu mentioned that the price of pho in Shanghai ranges from 40 to 70 yuan (135,000 VND - 235,000 VND). In a city with a high cost of living like this, the price of pho at the restaurant is considered "equivalent to the price of pho in China."
While other Vietnamese restaurants abroad often sell additional dishes like bun cha, bun bo, banh mi, fried spring rolls, or fresh spring rolls alongside pho, Chipu's pho restaurant currently only focuses on selling one dish: beef pho. Thu noted that the most impressive point of the restaurant is its strong Northern pho flavor accompanied by quite beautiful decoration.
"If given the opportunity, I want to support all Vietnamese restaurants in Shanghai as well as many other places," the Vietnamese customer shared.
Earlier, during the trial period, many diners came here to experience it and said, "this is the restaurant with the authentic traditional Vietnamese pho taste in China that they have known."
"The broth is naturally sweet, and the noodles are chewy yet soft. The generous amount of meat is a significant plus compared to some pho shops in Shanghai," a customer named My Pham commented.
