Hundreds of Buddhists gathered at the sacred peak of Fansipan for the Quán Thế Âm ordination ceremony.

On November 1-2, in the solemn space of the Fansipan spiritual complex, the ceremony for the Vía (ceremony for the appearance) of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva was held with many meaningful activities and rituals, attracting a large number of Buddhists and visitors from all directions to attend.

Holy peak Fansipan @HOÀNG TRUNG HIẾU

The first two days of November signaled the arrival of the most beautiful cloud season of the year at the holy peak Fansipan, also coinciding with the Vía of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva's ordination on the 19th of the ninth lunar month - a major celebration in the Buddhist calendar.
Sun World Fansipan Legend respectfully organized the ceremony under the chairmanship of Venerable Thích Tỉnh Thiền, permanent member of the Vietnamese Buddhist Church of Lao Cai Province - Abbot of the Trúc Lâm Đại Giác Meditation Center in Sa Pa; Thầy Thích Thông Thịnh, permanent member, deputy secretary, deputy head of the Office of the Executive Board, and head of propagation, head of the control committee of the Vietnamese Buddhist Church in Lao Cai Province; and Thầy Thích Chánh Tuệ, vice-abbot of the Trúc Lâm Đại Giác Meditation Center in Sa Pa.

The Vía ceremony of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva took place in a dreamlike cloud season

The Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva's ordination ceremony, taking place in a picturesque cloud backdrop, attracted hundreds of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and tourists to the Fansipan spiritual complex to sincerely conduct the rituals, remembering the great virtues of the compassionate Avalokiteshvara, and praying for national peace and prosperity, as well as a new month of ease and fortune.
In the joyful atmosphere of the celebration, the Fansipan spiritual complex from a height of 2,900m to the holy peak of 3,147.3m was adorned with thousands of vibrant multicolored festival flags and fresh flowers, adding color to the waves of clouds continuously rolling in from the valley.

On the evening of November 1 (the 18th of the ninth lunar month), under the chairmanship of the venerables and monks, at Bảo An Thiền Tự, the Fansipan cable car station hosted a public meditation and lantern offering ceremony, marking the start of events within the Vía of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. The Buddhist music and meditation dance performances by the Fansipan art troupe brought a deep, emotional atmosphere to the ceremony.
After the program, hundreds of monks and Buddhists joined in unison to chant prayers for peace for their families and national sovereignty. The sound of the chanting resonated in the evening light, allowing every visitor present to feel tranquil and moved.

After the chanting, the venerable monks lit hundreds of symbolic lanterns for the practitioners, representing the light of wisdom and compassion, while recalling the virtues of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. "At the moment when the lanterns were lit, I no longer felt the chilly early winter of Sa Pa; it felt like the hearts here were beating in unison. The atmosphere was very sacred and beautiful," shared Ms. Mai Duyên, a visitor from Lao Cai who participated in the event.

Hundreds of lanterns symbolizing the light of wisdom and compassion

A stream of people holding flower lanterns, chanting "Namo Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva," faced and offered to the Buddhas at Bảo An Thiền Tự. The light from the lanterns not only warmed the space but, according to Buddhist culture, also symbolizes and uplifts the miraculous light of the Dharma, guiding everyone along the correct, virtuous, and wise path.
The hundreds of lanterns were later arranged in a large lotus display 12.5m long and 9.8m wide in front of the meditation hall, creating a wondrous spectacle of light. Many tourists and Buddhists did not forget to capture memorable images against this impressive backdrop.

After an impressive evening that left many emotional reflections, Buddhists and visitors continued to participate in the great ceremony of blessings on November 2 (the 19th of the ninth lunar month) at the spiritual complex on the holy peak Fansipan, at an elevation of 2,900 to 3,143m.

Leisurely steps towards the Buddha's door in the solemn spiritual complex amidst sky and earth

Hundreds of participants at the grand ceremony were overwhelmed with emotions as the cable car doors opened, witnessing a sea of white clouds embracing the sacred peak, making the Fansipan spiritual complex look like a picturesque fairyland.

The grand ceremony was formally held according to traditional Buddhist rituals

Tourists and Buddhists participated in the Vía ceremony for Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, afterwards listening to the Venerable's sermon on the 12 vows of the Bodhisattva, gaining a deeper understanding of one of the most revered Bodhisattvas among Vietnamese Buddhists.
At the conclusion of the sermon, the procession in blue robes circumambulated the statue of Amitabha Buddha, following the Arhat path, and concluded with an incense offering at Kim Sơn Bảo Thắng Tự. The Buddhists solemnly bowed and prayed for peace in front of the statue of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, surrounded by boundless clouds and mountains, creating a sacred and deeply moving scene.
While praying, Buddhists and visitors admired the solemn spiritual sites. The leisurely steps towards the Buddha's door in the solemn spiritual complex left every visitor, even those who did not participate in the procession, standing still for a long while, watching the procession, and feeling the tranquility and peace.

"The roof of Indochina" Fansipan - the sacred peak of Vietnam

Ms. Đoàn Trang, a visitor from Yên Bái, shared: "Strolling beside the ancient pagodas and gazing at the sea of clouds, I thought about being at the highest point in Vietnam, which feels truly meaningful and emotional. When I walked, I felt as if I was stepping on clouds. I feel so fortunate to participate in the Vía ceremony of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva at the peak of Fansipan, being able to pray and also admire a scene that I've only seen once in my life since childhood."
"The roof of Indochina" Fansipan, the sacred peak of Vietnam is now a place of return during major Buddhist festivals. When visiting Fansipan, it is not only about performing sacred Buddhist rituals, but tourists also get to admire the beauty of the legendary mountain and appreciate the magnificent spiritual constructions amidst the clouds and mountain winds.
