According to Dr. Huy, the cold air will drop the temperatures in the northern mountainous provinces to about 18-20 degrees, in the Red River Delta 23-24 degrees, and in the North Central provinces 25-27 degrees. Although the temperature drop is not as significant as in winter, Dr. Huy warns that sudden drops can easily lead to thermal shock; especially, be cautious of hail and localized thunderstorms in the northern and North Central provinces during the afternoon of April 5-6.
The Hydro-Meteorological Center for the Delta and Midland North also forecasts that temperatures in the Northeast, including Hanoi capital, will tend to decrease in the coming days.
During the period from April 5-10, Hanoi's weather will continuously be affected by weak cold air waves causing showers and thunderstorms, with maximum temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
In addition, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting noted that in this April, the average temperature nationwide will continue to rise, 1-2 degrees higher than the multi-year average compared to the same period.
Cold air is still likely to occur but will operate with low intensity and shift towards the East. The western low pressure system tends to become stronger, so heat will appear and increase more in the Northern region and the North Central region.
The peak of heat in the North and Central regions will occur in June and July with many temperature records potentially being set.
