Compared to the high peak holiday period of April 30 - May 1, 2024, air ticket prices during the September 2 holiday are considered to have decreased significantly and have maintained stable levels during the past summer. Accordingly, the economy class passenger transport service prices on domestic routes during this period are all lower, ranging from 40% to 60% compared to the maximum regulated levels.
Vietnam Airlines reports that in the period from August 30, 2024, to September 3, 2024, the airlines will operate a total of 4,257 flights, averaging 840 flights/day, an increase of 3% compared to the week before the holiday and an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
Of these, the average number of domestic flights is 600 flights/day, an increase of 5% compared to the week before the holiday and an increase of 2.8% compared to the same period in 2023. The average number of international flights is 241 flights/day, a decrease of 2% compared to the week before the holiday and an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period in 2023.

For the North - South domestic routes (connecting Hanoi - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnamese airlines enhance operations with a high number of flights, averaging 241 flights/day. This number is up 8% compared to the week before the holiday and up 14.9% compared to the same period last year.
Domestic tourist routes (to Vinh, Binh Dinh, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc) and routes from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to other localities are also being enhanced, with an average of 171 flights/day on domestic tourist routes and 187 flights/day to other localities, increasing by 2% and 4% respectively compared to the week before the holiday.
To adequately serve the operation of domestic flights for the September 2 holiday, the international flight operations of Vietnamese airlines have seen a slight decrease (2%).
However, the number of international flights is still on the rise, with a total of flights operated by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet averaging 27 flights/day, an increase of 5% compared to before the holiday and a 95% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of other international flights decreased slightly, averaging 213 flights/day, a decrease of 3% compared to the week before the holiday and a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
Thanks to the increase in the number of flights during the upcoming holiday, especially on domestic routes, Vietnamese airlines can supplement the supply of seats in the market.
"The airlines balancing and arranging their plans for passenger transport during the peak holiday period of September 2 in particular and during the summer of 2024 in general, in the context of many difficulties, particularly due to the reduction in the number of aircraft fleets, is a commendable effort and endeavor," said the leader of the Aviation Administration, affirming the commitment to create conditions for airlines to lease additional aircraft; to confirm flight schedules so that airlines can timely adjust plans, enhance operations, and provide seats to meet market demands during peak periods.
Due to the high holiday traffic, passengers are advised to book tickets early through the official channels of the airline; while also proactively monitoring the flight schedule, arranging travel time to the airports to avoid congestion or encountering inconveniences due to flight delays.
Additionally, within allowable conditions, passengers may also consider booking tickets on flights departing early or late in the day, to have more options for cheaper prices.
