According to Matador Network, a site that specializes in introducing destinations and providing travel itinerary advice around the world, pedestrian streets are becoming a trend in global destinations. Many cities are seeking to expand sidewalks and restrict traffic on certain routes to create space for outdoor activities and dining. However, not all pedestrian streets are renovated with beautiful and tidy landscapes to provide a comfortable experience for visitors.
Around the world, there are many pedestrian streets that have existed for a long time before becoming a travel trend. Matador Network lists 7 famous streets that attract tourists from around the world.

1. Buchanan Street, Glasgow, Scotland
Buchanan Street was the most loved street in Scotland in 2003 and continues to be recognized to this day. This is the most impressive pedestrian street in Glasgow. The location features Victorian and Edwardian commercial buildings lining both sides and is regarded as one of the best-preserved streets in Scotland according to 19th-century architecture.
Since 1978, vehicles have been banned from this street to make way for a monthly farmers' market and various street performances. It is also home to small shops, museums, libraries, design centers, and notably, the Royal Concert Hall of Glasgow.
Not only is it a commercial and cultural hub, but Buchanan Street is also the "heart" of the city of Glasgow. This location is aimed not only at attracting tourists but also serves as a place for the local community's everyday cultural activities. Photo: Barry O'Neil

2. Rue Mouffetard, Paris, France
Rue Mouffetard, located in the heart of Paris's Latin Quarter, is a vibrant part of the city's history. This street dates back to the 12th century, a remnant of an ancient Roman road, and still bears distinct medieval architectural marks today. Rue Mouffetard has a small market, which is one of the most famous markets in Paris, always bustling with shoppers each morning.
The restaurants along the cobbled street strongly reflect Parisian culinary culture. Visitors can spend all day getting lost among the colorful shops and markets. The family of French writer Denis Diderot lived on Rue Mouffetard in the late 1700s, and this street has been mentioned in literary works such as The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. 7. Rue du Petit - Champlain, Quebec, Canada
The street is named after Samuel de Champlain, who founded Quebec City in 1608. It was also the first commercial area in North America. Many travelers report that when they arrive here, they feel as if they are strolling through 17th-century Paris, partly because the locals speak French.
To get here, visitors can follow the Breakneck Stairs - the oldest staircase in Quebec, built in 1635. Rue du Petit features prominent local crafts shops and galleries. The street also boasts famous murals. The mural painted on the side of the house at 102 Rue du Petit-Champlain vividly depicts the area's history, including the bombings of 1759, the landslide of 1889, and the fire of 1682.
