Tan Hoa village is located in Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province. This peaceful land is surrounded by limestone mountain ranges and low-lying areas upstream of the Rao Nan River, making it likened to the "flood center" of Quang Binh during the flood season from September to November each year. Since 2014, Oxalis has collaborated with the government of Tan Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, the Department of Tourism, and the provincial People's Committee to develop a sustainable strategy aimed at making this area a key tourist center in the Northwest of Quang Binh.
Tan Hoa is oriented towards developing an adaptive weather tourism village model, offering diverse experiences from homestays, agricultural living experiences to dining at local homes.
This is the only eco-tourism village where guests can experience the sensation of sleeping in a homestay based on floating houses designed to withstand floods.
The floating homestay is located next to local houses, overlooking the vast mountains, grassy fields, or peaceful village roads. The experience becomes even more impressive during the flood season when the homestay rises as floodwaters rise, allowing visitors to continue their normal activities in fully equipped conditions.
For relaxation, visitors can stay at Tu Lan Lodge - a unique weather-adapted accommodation in Tan Hoa village. The resort is built along the mountainside, offering panoramic views of the vast green fields ahead. A stay in Tan Hoa provides guests with enough experiences to both enjoy the serene nature and local life while challenging themselves with adventurous activities and explorations.
Visiting corn fields or observing herds of buffalo grazing peacefully on the meadows, visitors will find their souls calmed by the slow pace of rural life.
Adventure enthusiasts definitely cannot miss the ATV ride through the Lim forest, with muddy roads going uphill and downhill, crossing streams and going through caves to explore Kong's house - a destination linked to the blockbuster Hollywood film Kong: Skull Island set in Tan Hoa in 2016.
Tan Hoa is situated among limestone mountain ranges and has many cave systems formed over millions of years. If there is no time for a long break, guests can explore Mouse Cave, Bat Cave, Tun Cave, Tu Lan Cave... to challenge their fitness while trekking in the forest, swimming in streams, picnicking in the woods, and climbing mountains...
At the end of a long day of exploration, visitors should have dinner at local homes to gain a deeper understanding of the culture and life in the area known as the "flood center".
A typical meal of the locals features unusual and rustic dishes such as paddy rice made from maize, cassava, beans... meticulously prepared; wild water spinach, fish...
